3D Primitives

Primitives are the building blocks of 3D—basic geometric forms that one can create and modify with modelling software.

Although possible to create most of these primitive forms by lathing or extruding 2D shapes, most software packages build them in for convenience.

Some common primitives: pyramids, cubes, spheres, cones, and tori.

Some programs may offer an vast array of additional, more sophisticated primitives or tooling to transform them into better suited beveled or rounded edges instead.
